About RoboCup Singapore Open 2019

RoboCup Singapore Open cum National Selection of RoboCupJunior 2019 aims to promote innovation using robotics and select the best teams to represent Singapore in the RoboCup Asia – Pacific 2019 and RoboCup World Championship 2019.
The RoboCup Singapore Open focuses on RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Challenges and RoboCupJunior (RCJ) leagues.

Registration

  • Any changes of registration information, such as participant names, swap of leagues, etc. are strictly NOT allowed once the registration is closed.

Winning teams are eligible to participate in RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2019

Eligibility

Age division has been changed from last year. Please read this section carefully.

  • U12 age group: Teams with all student members aged 12 and below..
  • U19 age group: Teams with any student member aged between 13 and 19.
  • Age declaration day is the 1st of July 2019.

Team

  • Team size: 2 and 4 team members.
  • A team member cannot register 2 or more leagues.

Competition Leagues

  • RCAP CoSpace Grand Prix Challenge
  • RCAP CoSpace Grand Prix Challenge FirstSteps (for Grand Prix Novice Teams)

*Each team must use its own robot.
*Robots cannot be shared between teams.

Training Workshop

Training workshops will be provided for students participating in the RCAP Challenges.

Venue: Singapore Polytechnic

RoboCupJunior (RCJ) Leagues

  • Winning teams from MOE schools are eligible to participate in RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2019 and RoboCup World Championship 2019 (Sydney, Australia, July 2-8, 2019) .

Eligibility

Age division has been changed from last year. Please read this section carefully.

  • Students over age 19 are not allowed on RCJ teams.
  • Primary category age group: Teams with all student members below 13. Winning teams from primary age group are only allowed to participate in the RCAP 2019.
  • Secondary category age group: All team members must be aged 13 to 19 years old
  • Age declaration day is the 1st of July 2019.

Team

  • Team size: 2 – 6.
  • A team member cannot register 2 or more leagues.
  • RCJ Soccer, Rescue and CoSpace: Team size for RoboCup Singapore Open 2019 is between 2 and 6 team members. Team size for RoboCup 2019 and RCAP 2019 is between 2 and 4 team members.
  • A team member cannot register 2 or more leagues.
  • RCJ OnStage: Team size for RoboCup Singapore Open 2019 is between 2 and 6 team members. Team size for RoboCup 2019 and RCAP 2019 is between 2 and 5 team members.
  • As the RoboCup Singapore Open 2019 serves as the national qualifier/selection for the RCJ segment of RoboCup 2019, you may wish to send the following documents to junior@robocupsg.org .
    • (a)Team track record in past robotics events.
    • (b)Team description, such as hardware and software used.
    • (c)Robots’ photos (if available).

Cancellation

After the registration, the Singapore Open 2019 office will send you an email for the registration verification and confirmation. There will be no refund of the registration fee in the following cases:

  • No show during the competition.
  • Removal a team or participants after the registration is finalised.

Challenges

CoSpace Grand Prix Challenge

In the CoSpace Grand Prix Challenge, teams are required to make a robot, code a robot, and finally take part in the Robot Race in the real-virtual co-existing space. The robot race begins in the real world. It will notify its virtual team robot after it reaches the teleportation terminal. The virtual robot will continue the race in the virtual world to complete the course. Teams are required to develop appropriate strategies for both real and virtual autonomous robot.

CoSpace Rescue Challenge

In RCAP CoSpace Rescue challenge, teams are required to use a real robot, develop and program appropriate strategies for both real and virtual autonomous robots to navigate through the real and virtual worlds to search and rescue victims, while competing with another team’s robot executing the same mission in the same real and virtual worlds. Selection and implementation of suitable AI strategy is very important in the RCAP CoSpace Rescue challenge.
